Certification Designation

Support Expert (NCSE)

Certification Goal:
This designation certifies that the successful candidate can apply an intermediate to advanced level of technical proficiency required to configure, administer, maintain, and troubleshoot complex Nortel Networks solutions/products. It builds upon the specialist level competencies and focuses on advanced solution support, which may involve multiple products and internetworking functionalities.

Target Audience:
Post-sales, intermediate to advanced level individuals worldwide who are responsible for:
  • Configuring, administering, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex Nortel Networks solutions/products
  • Analyzing and resolving complex technical issues (either locally or remotely)
  • Supporting other technicians (either locally or remotely, such as field technicians) that are experiencing complex technical issues


Demonstrated Skills:
A candidate who is minimally qualified has these characteristics. In general it represents approximately six months to one year of relevant or related work experience.
  • Has quantifiable hands-on experience configuring, administering, maintaining, and troubleshooting comprehensive, multi-site Nortel Networks solutions/products
  • Can configure, administer, maintain, and troubleshoot intermediate to advanced solutions/products
  • Can apply knowledge of the topics tested on the exam to solve complex (multi-product and/or multi-site) customer technical problems
  • Can work alone, without close supervision, although he or she may be part of a team
  • Acts in a consultative role to entry/intermediate individuals
