    Course Description

The Converged Campus solution combines a highly available network infrastructure with proven, feature-rich business telephony and applications.

In this course, you will explore the installation process for Ethernet Routing Switches including licensing and PoE configurations. You will examine the processes involved in the implementation of Avaya's small, medium, and large converged campus solutions.

Hands-in labs allow you to configure the ERS 8600 to serve as the network core and ERS 5500s to serve on the network edge. Labs use a combination of the ERS 8600 CLI, ACLI on the ERS 5500, and Enterprise Device Manager.

You'll examine these Ethernet switching platforms:

    • Ethernet Routing Switch 8800
    • Ethernet Routing Switch 8600
    • Ethernet Routing Switch 8300
    • Ethernet Routing Switch 5000
    • Ethernet Routing Switch 4500
    • Ethernet Routing Switch 2500

You will consider Ethernet switching hardware:

    • Resiliency (chassis/stackable)
    • Power considerations (redundancy, 802.3af Power over Ethernet, Avaya Energy Saver)

You will examine these Ethernet switching technologies

    • Link detection/protection (RFI, FEFI, LACP, VLACP)
    • Link resiliency (SMLT, SLT, RSMLT, VRRP, ECMP, RSTP, LACP, VLACP, SLPP)
    • Layer 2 and Layer 3 security (SNMPv3, SSH, DoS protection, threat protection)
    • Layer 3 routing (OSPF, RIP, BGP, PIM-SM)
    • Quality of Service (QoS)
